In the book of Joshua we read that God commanded the Israelites to take twelve river stones from the Jordan, as they passed over on dry ground, as a memorial for the mighty hand of God in bringing them to the land of Canaan.
God had delivered them from Egypt with a mighty hand. He had given them the Law of God, of which they were not to turn from to the right or left. He had been their provision in the wilderness, providing manna from heaven and water from the stone of Horeb. God also led them with a cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night. Wherever His Spirit directed them, and whenever met by an impassable obstacle, the Lord was there to make a way when there was no other way. These stones were to remind the heritage of Israel and all the peoples of the earth that, "the hand of the Lord is mighty," and that they, "may fear the Lord your God forever."
This memorial is of highest magnitude to the church family at Calvary Chapel Red River. Our heart is to magnify the Lord in everything that He has done for us, in a spirit of excellence. He is our Bread of Life, of which we partake and live. He is our Fountain of Living Water, of which we drink to bring forth torrents of living water. He is our cloud by day and pillar of fire by night which guides us, lights our path, and keeps us safe. When there is an obstacle that inevitably is in our way, it is by His mighty hand that He makes a way.

This body of believers stands on the everlasting love, peace, grace and mercy of the mighty God of Israel, who sent His only son to die on the cross, that He may gather us into His Kingdom. As a wild olive tree is grafted in, so too are the gentile nations of the world grafted in, as the inheritance of the nations to Christ the King of eternity.
Our lives on this planet are but a fleeting time of pilgrimage, wrought with turmoil and tribulation. It is for the glory of the Father who sits on the throne, through the everlasting King Jesus that we suffer well, worship in Spirit and in Truth, and be the salt and light in a dark and fallen world. Our Twelve Stones memorial is that of our walk of relationship with Jesus Christ to glorify The Father. Seek ye first the kingdom and all of these things shall be added unto you.
