Giving

Honor the Lord with your possessions and with the first fruits of all your increase.
So your barns will be filled with plenty and your vats will overflow with new wine.

- Proverbs 3:9-10

Why we give.

As children in the Kingdom of God, bought and paid for by the precious blood of Jesus - God's Word made flesh - it is our reasonable service to present ourselves as living sacrifices unto the Lord.
It is with our hearts, our minds, our souls and all of our strength.  It is in our obedience to the voice of God that we can begin to hand over ourselves, and our possessions, to and for the Lord.
He requires a heart that desires to do the will of God in all things.  In return, the Lord blesses beyond what we could imagine...not based on material gain but because our hearts are
being transformed into desiring that which is the heart and will of God, thus we gain what we need.

Our church believes that God desires the first fruits of our lives - in all aspects of our lives...in our time, in our service, in our relationships and even in our giving.
God asked His people, Israel (of which we are now grafted into through the grace and mercy of Jesus) to give the first of their grain, olive oil, new wine, honey, sheep wool, produce and even
from their herds and flocks.  This was an acknowledgement that all they had belonged to the Lord.  And it is out of love and thanksgiving that we give back the best to Him.

Finally, at Calvary Chapel Red River, we want to honor God in this and so we lean on three scriptures that speak to giving back to the Most High God.
2 Corinthians 9:6-15 | Proverbs 3:9-10 | Malachi 3:10
